Favre Update, 8-2-2008, 16:37 PM eastern standard

You gotta hand it to ESPN. No one blows up the spot like they do.

Yesterday it's "PACKERS WILLING TO PAY BRETT FAVRE $20 MILLION TO STAY ON RIDING LAWNMOWER".

Today, the reality is the Packers offered Brett Favre this hefty sum back in March as part of a marketing deal.

Wait a minute? You're telling me the Green Bay Packers are asking the greatest Packer of the modern era to help you sell the Packers to the masses? That's crazy!

Once again, there are no consequences for ESPN getting the story totally and completely wrong. I mean, seriously, there is a HUGE difference between "Here's $20 million dollars, just stay retired so we don't have to deal with the embarrassment" as opposed to "While you're retired, we'll pay you to help us market the Packers."

Also from ESPN regarding Favre...

"Sal Palantonio Favre Favre Favre Brett Favre retire Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre Ted Thompson Favre Favre Favre Favre $20 million Favre Favre, and also Favre Favre Favre.

AJ Hawked weighed in saying, "Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre, and you know, Favre Favre Favre Favre, with the chance that Favre Favre Favre win Favre Aaron Rodgers Favre Favre. Championship teams Favre Favre Favre Green Bay Favre Favre Favre while still keeping in mind Favre Favre Favre Favre Brett Favre."

More developments expected in the next four minutes, stay tuned.

And in closing, Favre Favre Favre Favre Favre Brett Mississippi to you good sir.
