Back in the saddle...

Quick movie recommendations...why not?

First, if you haven't seen 'King of Kong', go get it right now. It's only the most spectacular documentary ever created that deals with setting old-school video game records. All those other old-school video game films just suck balls.

If you find grown men that are into video game records that haven't been relevant for 20 years interesting, this is the movie for you. If you realize that Donkey Kong is actually the most difficult arcade game of all time, this is the movie for you.

Just trust me on this one, it's some of the finest 80 mins. of cinematic production you'll ever see. The ending is as gratifying as it gets.

Also in this same genre by the way, I would recommend the following.

- 'Word Wars' is similar to 'King of Kong' but instead of video games, deals with the high stakes world of Scrabble tournaments. Who knew? You think the guys still geeked up about the all-time Pac-Man high score are nuts? Check out these freaks that travel around the country seeking Scrabble glory.

- And finally, the ultimate in nerdery, it's 'Darkon'. As if playing board games and old school video platforms wasn't pathetic enough, meet the men and women who participate in 'Darkon'.

What's Darkon? I'm still not sure. I am sure that it mostly involves a bunch of uber-nerds dressing up like medieval lords and serfs and acting out some ridiculous ulternate-universe. Again, very entertaining.
