Todd Boeckman...

From the Mansfield News Journal...

Todd Boeckman might wield the lowest profile of any returning All-Big Ten quarterback in Ohio State's storied history.

There's a very simple reason for that low profile.

- Three INT's in the loss to Illinois.

- Seven completions on 13 attempts for only 50 yards plus an INT against Michigan (which Ohio State won in spite of Boeckman's Bellisari-esque performance)

- Against LSU in the title game, 208 yards total passing and two INT's.

And the kicker? Todd tacked on two more INT's in the Ohio State Spring Game on only 145 yards of passing.

There are plenty of reasons why Todd Boeckman is not being lauded as the heir apparent to Troy Smith, Joe Germaine, Bobby Hoying, or any other adequate OSU QB as of late. While TB has been very good, he has not been great when it counts. The last three games of the season (including the bowl game) are not the time to fuck up. It's that simple.

In my personal opinion, Todd Boeckman is the one guy that holds the fate of the 2008 season in his hands as far as Ohio State is concerned. Boeckman was very good against a very weak schedule for most of the year last year. He even garnered All Big Ten recognition. His stats were very good overall, I'm not really sure what he accomplished of significance last season though.

You can't deny, Todd Boeckman didn't exactly shine when it counted in 2007. Approximately 60% of his INT's came in the last three games of the season, a time when TB should have been better, not worse. Not that his mistakes are all his fault by any stretch, but he's the man under center at the end of the day.

The good news is if there is a coach that can get the most out of his QB's, it's Jim Tressel. He has proven this repeatedly.

Given what the Buckeyes will have on defense, coupled with Chris "Beanie" Wells, a veteran WR corp plus more-then-adequate depth on the offensive line, the one question mark is QB Todd Boeckman. And while Terrelle Pryor may provide some flair here and there, I would caution anyone to view him as the savior this season.

It's on Todd Boeckman.

Todd is following...Troy...

Craig won a NC....then we had the Zwick dealings....

We are spoiled...the kid made All Big Ten....if he chokes or throws a bunch of picks against USC then I will agree with you.

If Robiskie catches that pass in the NC game then we are speaking about how "sick the throw was". He took us down the field at the end and had ice water in his veins..I think he will impress everyone this year.

I'm almost threw up in my mouth a little. Stanley Jackson, are you kidding me? I'm with the pride of BG on this one. Todd will come through this year.
