Best Defensive Coordinator in the country?

According to CBSportsline.com's Senior College Football writer Dennis Dodd the best current defensive coordinator in the country is Ohio State's own Jim Heacock.

I'm sure there are quite a few people that will have a minor problem with this given the relative clunkers his defense put up in the last two national title games. In all fairness though, if you were judged solely on your two worst days on the job you probably wouldn't be up for any awards either.

The most interesting statistic in the piece indicates that since taking over as defensive coordinator at Ohio State (following Mark Dantonio's departure to Cincinnati) only Virginia Tech has given up fewer total points. That is impressive.

Given how dominant and yet how young the defense was in 2007, Heacock appears poised to add to his legacy in 2008. With only OLB Larry Grant and DE Vernon Gholston not returning the Buckeyes will bring nine out of 11 starters back to the mix this season.

Look out mo-fo's!

Is that the same Heacock that shat down his leg against Illinois AND LSU last season?

Give me a break. I'm off to pump myself.
